Meeting more of the history in the hood. Jack and his brother have run this appliance repair shop on Myrtle for a long time, to say the least. Their tagline says it all, "house of a million parts". There are also flags and memories on all walls. Minutes later the scrapbooks were out, pictures of him as a kid, the Veterans Memorial downtown, the neighborhood, friends, etc. I stopped to capture a flag and in return got a history lesson. Smile. If you ever need a small flag, yes, he's got those too, just a buck!

I thought I was getting a "no pictures" wave, but it turned out to be a "come in!" wave. I've walked by this place a few times a year but never had a camera. With flag on the brain, I stopped and was treated to a full tour. Just what you'd think inside - a place for socialization, a big back room full of tables for events, and lots of flags. I think I'll take them up on their offer to come back anytime.

Flag #1, 2009

It's that time again... flags. I never really stopped capturing them so I have many. I won't overload, just share the interesting ones! After the project last year I put together a book called, "Red to the White to the Blue" using the free offer Oprah gave away, thank you miss O! It actually turned out pretty good. So, I continue on.
Fun note of the day,
a picture I took back in 2001 is on the NYTimes Local Blog today!Labels: flag

Am I just noticing all the flags or are there are lot more flags flying these days?
